IGIMS superintendent Manish Mandal said that liver transplant work is already being done in the institute but it used to cost more money.
The patients who used to reach here used to shy away from getting liver transplant done.
Because paying this amount was not just for the poor patients. In view of this problem of the patients, a letter was written to the central and state government. The government took this into its notice, after which the decision to give the grant was taken.
IGIMS superintendent Manish Mandal said that now financial grant will be given by the government to the institute for liver transplant.
In such a situation, it will now be possible for poor patients to get liver transplant done at a cheap rate in IGIMS. It is a big relief for them.
Manish Mandal has also informed that a separate OPD has also been made in IGIMS for the convenience of the patients. Arrangements have been made to ensure that the patients do not face any kind of problem and they get all the facilities under one roof.
Liver donor has to go through three tests. So all the facilities have been started under one roof.
Significantly, the first liver transplant was done in IGIMS on March 19, 2020. But this transplant was not successful and the patient died. The liver of Rohit of Nalanda was transplanted to Doctor Nimesh Chandra of Noida.
