In a strategic move to diversify its portfolio and tap the rapidly growing medical tourism sector, leading online travel aggregator (OTA) platform EaseMyTrip has acquired a 30% stake in UAE-based Pflege Home Healthcare and a 49% stake in Rollins International. The acquisitions are set to cement EaseMyTrip’s position as a one-stop-shop for travelers seeking holistic travel solutions, including wellness and healthcare services.
EaseMyTrip’s board of directors has approved the acquisition of Rol Mills International (30%) and Pflege Home Healthcare (49%) at a consideration of Rs 60 crore and Rs 30 crore, respectively. The consideration will be paid in the form of an equity swap, where EaseMyTrip will issue its shares to Rollins and Pflege.
Pflege Healthcare, a medical tourism provider, will offer international patients access to treatments worldwide with partnerships across top-tier medical institutions and leading hotel chains. Rollins International, a subsidiary of Singapore-based RHA Holding, focuses on wellness, healthcare, and consumer products such as gluten-free and dairy-free food products, health supplements, and wellness therapies.
This move marks another significant expansion in EaseMyTrip’s portfolio, which has acquired several firms in the travel and hospitality sectors in recent years, including Guideline Travels Holidays, TripShope Travel Technologies, and Dook Travels. The company’s net revenue declined by 6.8% in the first quarter of the ongoing fiscal year, while its profits declined by 13%.
Commenting on the acquisition, Nishant Pitti, CEO of EaseMyTrip, said, “This strategic expansion into the medical tourism sector aligns with our mission to offer holistic travel solutions. We are excited to partner with Rollins and Pflege to provide our customers with comprehensive travel solutions.”
The development is expected to boost EaseMyTrip’s growth prospects in the premium segment as medical tourism is a high-margin business. The company will now be able to offer a wider range of services, including healthcare and wellness, to its customers.
In a separate move, EaseMyTrip’s board of directors has also approved the proposal for the manufacturing of electric buses.
